Nation Ford Chemical Welcomes Congressman Ralph Norman

Company leaders share key issues, challenges impacting small chemical manufacturers

Fort Mill, S.C. – U.S. Congressman Ralph Norman (R-SC) visited Nation Ford Chemical on Friday, November 17, to learn more about the specialty chemical industry and talk with company leaders and staff about key issues impacting their business.

During the visit, members of the Nation Ford Chemical team reiterated the importance of passage of the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill, which they hope will be passed in 2017. Duty suspensions for key raw materials that are not available domestically are critical to allow companies in the U.S. to compete against imported products.

“We are appreciative to Congressman Norman for taking the time to visit our facility,” said Jay Dickson, President of Nation Ford Chemical. “It is important for Washington to understand the challenges that small business face and policies that help allow for domestic competition and growth.”

Dickson also discussed the importance of environment, health and safety to NFC and a key safety milestone that had recently been achieved by the company. Through ChemStewards®, a program of the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates, NFC won two performance improvements in 2017 for “EHS Planning and Operations” and “Employee Engagement and Training.” NFC has won 11 awards over the past 9 years.

Following the meeting with member of the NFC management team, Norman toured the facility and spoke to employees, offering an open question and answer session. During the session Congressman Norman discussed a wide range of topics with employees, including the newly passed tax reform bill.
